Cairo: The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) held its inaugural meeting in Cairo on January 15, 2026, officially launching its work.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the opening meeting formally announced the committee's mandate to assume civil responsibilities and internal security duties in the Gaza Strip, as well as to oversee efforts related to stability, recovery, and reconstruction. The committee will carry out these tasks until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform program.
In a brief statement during the opening session, Committee Chair Ali Shaath stated that the NCAG is a Palestinian body established by Palestinians for Palestinians, with the support of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority.
