Baghdad: Minister of Trade Athir Al-Ghariri stressed, today, Monday, Iraq's keenness to develop its relations with Turkey. A statement by the Ministry stated that "on the sidelines of the Minister of Trade Athir Al-Ghariri's chairmanship of the Iraqi delegation at the third ministerial meeting of the Trade Negotiations Committee for the Trade Preference System for Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, he met in Istanbul with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat; To discuss prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries and the agreements signed between them." Al-Ghariri stressed during the meeting, "The Iraqi government's keenness to develop and advance relations with neighboring Turkey, in a manner that serves mutual interests, by taking advantage of all available opportunities to establish joint production and investment projects and increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries." For his part, the Turkish Minister welcomed "Al-Gharir i's visit to Turkey and his participation in the ministerial meeting," stressing "the Turkish government's keenness to develop economic, investment and trade relations with Iraq, and implement the agreements signed between them." According to the statement, "the meeting also discussed the outcomes of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Iraq, and coordination and arrangements for the visit of the Turkish Minister of Trade to Iraq next July."
