Military solution will not bring peace in region, says EU FM

European High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that any military solution will not bring peace in occupied Palestine. "Only a political solution will bring peace and security to the region," Borrell said, according to the Italian news agency (Aki), noting that the European bloc is working closely with its Arab partners to find ways to implement the two-state solution. "Last year witnessed terrible suffering for the Palestinian people in Gaza, and then in the West Bank as well. The all-out war declared by the Israeli government against Hamas led to a humanitarian crisis and intensive bombing turned most of the Gaza Strip into rubble. More than 41,000 people were killed, most of them women and children, and most of Gaza's residents were forced to flee their homes," the European diplomacy coordinator noted.
