Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs and Chairman of the Presidential Committee to Confront Flood Damage Dr. Hussein Maqbouli on Monday inspected the damage inflicted on al-Qanawis district due to torrential rains. Accompanied by Assistant Undersecretary of the province for northern districts Affairs Ghaleb Hamza and Commander of the Northern Axis, Maj. Gen. Fadel al-Dhayani Dr. Maqbouli assessed the extent and nature of the damage caused by the floods to citizens' properties, homes, and public services. In the presence of district director Mohammed al-Qawzi, Dr. Maqbouli also reviewed the causes of the torrents and their diversion from their natural course due to the closure and blockage of 80 culverts meant for rainwater drainage. He directed the local authority leadership in the district to urgently work on opening the culverts and implementing the necessary measures to secure the course of the torrents and prevent further disasters and damages. Dr. Maqbouli emphasized that the Pr esidential Committee will distribute food baskets and shelter materials to the affected families, provide assistance, and address the damages suffered by citizens in al-Qanawis district.
