Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, formally received the credentials of Maher Tarawneh as the newly appointed resident and extraordinary plenipotentiary ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Republic of Iraq on Sunday. In a statement released by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Hussein extended his congratulations to Ambassador Tarawneh on assuming his new role, highlighting the importance of strengthening the already robust bilateral relations between the two countries. Ambassador Tarawneh emphasized the necessity of enhancing cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. He expressed a commitment to deepening coordination across various fields to bolster ties between the two countries. The statement also noted that the relationship between Iraq and Jordan is not only diplomatic but also deeply rooted in shared geography. It underscored the importance of increasing economic engagement, with a focu s on promoting investment and expanding trade exchanges. Furthermore, Minister Hussein announced an upcoming meeting with his Jordanian counterpart on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This meeting is expected to advance bilateral cooperation and address issues of mutual concern. During their discussion, the two officials also addressed shared regional challenges, particularly the ongoing escalation by Israeli forces in Gaza, the Palestinian territories, and the West Bank.
