Macron: Recognition of Palestinian State is a Moral Duty and a Political Imperative

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Friday that recognizing the State of Palestine is "not just a moral duty, but a political imperative," amid mounting international pressure to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, Macron urged European nations to adopt a stronger collective stance toward Israel. He warned that European countries must "tighten the collective position" if Israel fails to respond in a manner that matches the severity of the humanitarian situation in Gaza "in the coming hours and days."

Macron's remarks come as France and Saudi Arabia prepare to co-host a United Nations-backed conference from June 17 to 20. The conference aims at laying out a roadmap for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, signaling a significant diplomatic effort to address the long-standing conflict in the region.
