Kuwaiti shooter Khaled Al-Mudhaf opened his 2024 Paris Olympics campaign on Monday, finishing day one of the men's shooting trap competition in 16th place with a cumulative total of 72 points. Ahead of the second day of competition, with some 50 points up for grabs over two rounds, in which the top six shooters out of 30 will qualify for the knockout stages, with Al-Mudhaf striving to be among them, the Kuwaiti national Olympic Committee said in a statement. Kuwaiti shooters are no strangers to success on such a grand stage, having made some notable accomplishments in recent international competitions, the statement highlighted, while the sport of shooting has seen the lion's share of Kuwaiti Olympic accomplishments. Being the first Kuwaiti athlete to secure his berth at the Paris Olympics, Al-Mudhaf is making his fourth appearance at the Olympics this year, with his best performance being his fourth place finish at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, it added.
