Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Calls for End to Israeli Occupation and Protection of Palestinian Rights

New York: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya has asserted that a just and comprehensive peace can only be realized by ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights. He underscored that remaining silent on the crimes in Gaza is akin to "collusion with the executioner against the victim."

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Al-Yahya made these remarks during a speech at a high-level international conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The conference focused on resolving the Palestinian issue through peaceful means and implementing the two-state solution. Al-Yahya highlighted the severe circumstances in the Palestinian territories, especially the Gaza Strip, which is facing significant Israeli military aggression resulting in numerous casualties and extensive infrastructure damage.

Al-Yahya expressed approval for the steps taken by several countries to address the situation and encouraged others to follow suit, emphasizing the importance of international recognition for justice and peace. He called for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression, an end to the targeting of civilians and infrastructure, and measures to prevent the recurrence of such acts.

The minister emphasized the need to permanently open all crossings to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid without hindrance. He rejected forced displacement aimed at altering the demographic landscape in Palestinian territories and reaffirmed the right of Palestinian refugees to return in line with UN Resolution No. (194).

Al-Yahya urged global support for the Palestinian government and its institutions, advocating for expanded authority over Palestinian territories as a crucial step towards establishing an independent state. He called on the international community to protect civilians, hold violators accountable through the International Court of Justice, and activate mechanisms to ensure justice.

He also emphasized the significance of supporting political and diplomatic efforts to revive the peace process in alignment with international resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. He urged rejection of policies that hinder the two-state solution.

In his concluding remarks, Al-Yahya appealed to the international community to end the ongoing tragedy, protect innocent lives, cease aggression, lift the siege, and compel the Israeli occupation to adhere to international humanitarian law. He painted a grim picture of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, highlighting the deprivation of basic necessities and calling for urgent action and support for the people of Gaza.
