Kuwait PM commends passage of development bills

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Wednesday lauded the passage by National Assembly (parliament) of a set of draft laws bearing on reforms and development within a short period of time.

Addressing a parliamentary session on economic and financial affairs, he said the assembly has approved several bills that have contributed to completing the country’s legislative structure, achieving the aspired reform, strengthening development and fulfilling citizens’ expectations.

He cited laws on residential cities, health insurance, Constitutional Court, election watchdog and new state budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024, as clear-cut paradigms in this regard.

He added that the government has also submitted its program of action to the assembly as per Article 98 of the Constitution, covering legislative aspects, projects and requirements aiming at promoting the state’s future, addressing main challenges and improving living conditions.

His Highness the Prime Minister also spoke highly of the constructive dialogue at parliament during the discussion of major issues and subjects as an effective way for reaching fruitful collaboration between the government and parliament.

He also appreciated the MPs’ efforts and eagerness during this legislative term to establish the pillars of parliamentary work, hoping for further fruitful cooperation and partnership for shouldering national responsibilities in the context of the constitution, internal bylaws and rule of law.
