Amman, Jordan's King Abdullah II discussed with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas the latest serious developments in the Gaza Strip, subjected to a destructive Israeli aggression for the past 179 days. During their phone call, King Abdullah II stressed the need for an immediate and lasting cease-fire in Gaza, the protection of civilians, and ensuring the uninterrupted provision of adequate aid all over the Strip. In turn, the Palestinian President expressed appreciation for Jordan's support to the Palestinian people, its rejection of the uprooting of Palestinians from their land, in addition to Jordan's protection and safeguarding of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
