Jordan’s Envoy to Japan discusses ASEZ’s development plan with visiting team

Jordan’s Ambassador to Japan Lina Annab on Tuesday held discussions in Tokyo with the team responsible for the “Vision 2040” comprehensive development plan for the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ). The team, headed by City Commissioner Abdullah Najadat, convened to explore the strategic collaboration between Jordan and Japan on this vital project. The meeting also saw the participation of members from the Middle East regional office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Ambassador Annab underscored the profound connection between Jordan and Japan, citing the strong ties between the royal families of both countries as a cornerstone of this relationship, and expressing anticipation for the upcoming commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Jordanian-Japanese diplomatic relations. Furthermore, she acknowledged the efforts of the visiting Jordanian team in leveraging the cooperative endeavors with Japan, particularly in the strategic update of the “Vision 2040” comprehensive plan. The Ambassador also emphasized Jordan’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral partnership with Japan. This collaboration, she noted, would encompass a diverse array of cultural, economic, and political matters, as well as cooperative efforts in addressing regional challenges and advancing peace initiatives. For his part, Najadat lauded the cooperative spirit displayed by the Jordanian Embassy in Tokyo, acknowledging their role in facilitating the visit of the Jordanian team, which included engaging with various specialized entities involved in urban planning, transportation, tourism, and industry. “The discussions were part of a broader itinerary, with the delegation extending its visit to key cities such as Kobe, Takamatsu, and Okinawa. These engagements are expected to further enrich the insights and experiences that will contribute to the continued progress of ASEZ’s comprehensive development plan,” he said.
