Jordanian FM Criticizes Israeli Government’s Stance on Peace Efforts

Gaza: Jordan's Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi on Tuesday said there was no partner for peace in the Israeli government right now, adding his country remains committed to international law despite its violation by Israel.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this statement was made during talks with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and other participants at the "20th Bled Strategic Forum." The forum, which began on Monday and spans two days, serves as an international platform where political leaders, experts, and representatives from various international organizations gather to deliberate on issues related to security, peace, and development both in Europe and globally.

The discussions between the parties focused on efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza, address the resulting humanitarian crisis, and coordinate initiatives to establish a lasting ceasefire and deliver aid to the region. They also explored strategies to realize the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on a two-state solution, emphasizing it as the sole pathway to achieving a just peace.

During a session titled 'Revitalizing Leadership and Multilateralism in an Era of Conflict and Fragmentation,' Safadi highlighted the destructive impact of Israeli actions in Gaza, noting that it not only devastated communities and infrastructure but also undermined faith in the credibility of international law. He criticized the international community for becoming desensitized to the killing of innocent people and the exacerbation of humanitarian crises, citing the lack of global outrage over recent casualties.

Safadi further emphasized that the failure of the international community to prevent and resolve the famine in Gaza represents a significant crisis in shared human values and responsibilities.
