Jordan participates in ministerial meeting to preserve environment in Red Sea in Egypt
Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh is participating in the 20th ministerial meeting of the Regional Authority for the Preservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden that started Thursday in Egypt. Radaideh praised Djibouti’s efforts during its presidency of the previous session and the coordination by the Authority’s secretariat in implementing several pioneering programmes and projects aimed at protecting the Red Sea environment, especially those related to the blue economy and sustainable fishing. Radaida said, “The environmental challenges we are facing today require concerted regional efforts to protect the elements of biodiversity in the Red Sea environment and limit the effects of climate change, especially since scientific studies indicate that coral reefs in the Gulf of Aqaba have the flexibility and ability to face climate changes.” The meeting was joined by environment ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Djibouti.
