Post: Jordan Condemns Israeli Legislative Measures Over West Bank

Amman: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the Israeli government's recent legislative actions intended to impose sovereignty over the West Bank, describing them as illegal. These measures are aimed at solidifying settlements and creating a new legal and administrative framework in the occupied territory. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Ministry declared that these decisions violate international law, undermine the two-state solution, and infringe on the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Ministry stressed that Israel does not hold sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories. Ambassador Fouad Majali, the Ministry's official spokesperson, confirmed Jordan's rejection of these unilateral Israeli measures. He highlighted that such actions contravene UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2334, which denounces Israeli effo rts to change the demographic and legal status of Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. Majali also referenced the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion, which calls for the end of the Israeli occupation and labels the annexation of Palestinian territories as illegal. He warned that the expansionist policies of the Israeli government could perpetuate cycles of violence and conflict in the region. He urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by pressuring Israel to cease its escalatory actions and inflammatory rhetoric. He emphasized that establishing a Palestinian state is essential for achieving peace and stability in the region.
