Israeli Strike Claims Lives of Five Palestinians Near Khan Yunes

Khan Yunes: An Israeli strike on Wednesday evening resulted in the deaths of five Palestinians and injured others in al-Mawasi, northwest of Khan Yunes City in the southern Gaza Strip, and the Gaza neighborhood of Shuja'iyya.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, an Israeli combat drone conducted a strike targeting Street 5 in the al-Mawasi area, leading to the deaths of four civilians.

The correspondent also reported that Israeli bombing targeted a house belonging to the al-Khoudari family in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, resulting in the death of another individual. The resumption of Israeli aggression came after the unilateral termination of the Gaza ceasefire agreement by Israel, leading to a wave of airstrikes across the Strip that began on March 18.

Medical sources indicate that the death toll has reached at least 3,924, with 11,267 others wounded. In the past 24 hours alone, 28 bodies, including five retrieved from the rubble, and 179 casualties have been admitted to Gaza hospitals. These figures exclude hospitals in the northern Strip. The ongoing aggression has intensified concerns over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Strip, further exacerbated by a siege and a ban on the entry of medical and humanitarian aid.

Since October 2023, Israel's military operations in the Strip have resulted in the deaths of 54,084 Palestinians, with a significant number of women and children among the casualties. The statistics reveal that 16,854 children and 20,594 young men have been killed, comprising 31.5% and 38% respectively of the total death toll since the escalation began.

The conflict has also left at least 10,000 individuals unaccounted for, presumed dead beneath the rubble of their homes. Additionally, nearly two million people have been forcibly displaced from across the Gaza Strip, with the majority seeking refuge in the overcrowded southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border. This displacement marks the largest mass exodus of Palestinians since the 1948 Nakba.
