Israeli Shelling in Gaza Kills One, Injures Several Others

Gaza city: A young man was killed and several other Palestinians were injured early Wednesday morning as a result of Israeli shelling and gunfire across the Gaza Strip. The incident coincided with airstrikes and the demolition of residential buildings in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, medical sources confirmed that Akram Hassan al-Arjani, aged 27, lost his life in a shelling targeting the 'Ard al-Laymoun' area south of Khan Younis. The deceased was transported to Nasser Medical Complex.

In addition, a Palestinian was injured by a quadcopter drone near Abu Hussein School in the northern Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, a girl sustained injuries from Israeli gunfire in the Qizan Abu Rashwan area, also located south of Khan Younis.

The escalation included Israeli warplanes launching airstrikes east of Gaza City and east of the 'Yellow Line' near Khan Younis. Warplanes were also reported to fly intensively at low altitudes, while Israeli forces destroyed residential buildings east of Khan Younis. The shelling extended to areas east of the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City and east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli occupation forces repeatedly opened fire east of the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. However, no injuries have been reported in that particular area so far.

Since the ceasefire on October 11, Israeli forces have killed 615 Palestinians and injured 1,658 others. The overall death toll from the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip has reached 72,073, with 171,756 reported wounded since the beginning of the offensive on October 7, 2023.
