Israeli settlers fence an agricultural road, assault farmer in Jordan Valley
A group of Israeli settlers today fenced an agricultural road and brutally assaulted a Palestinian farmer in the northern Jordan Valley, according to local sources. Mutaz Basharat, a senior official who monitors Israeli settlement activities, said that scores of Israeli settlers fenced an agricultural road linking Khirbet Umm Zuqah and the highway. He said that this area, which is located on top of a mountain in the Jordan Valley, has been a regular target of settlers raids and attacks, who prevent shepherds from grazing in that area. Meanwhile, the settlers brutally assaulted the Palestinian farmer Mohib Daraghme, leaving him with bruises all over his body. Basharat noted that a group of settlers were seen, surrounding the tents of residents of Dra Awwad area, causing panic among children and women. Palestinian farmers in the northern Jordan Valley suffer from daily violations, raids and attacks by settlers and occupation forces, who aim to kick them out of their lands in favor of settlement expansion.
