Ramallah: The Israeli occupation authorities on Friday issued a military order to uproot hundreds of trees from the lands of Al-Mughayyir village, located northeast of Ramallah. The order has been justified by the authorities under claims of security reasons.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the order mandates the removal of trees from three specific areas within the village, covering an estimated 297 dunums. The stated reason for this action is described as 'for purely urgent military purposes and for the defense of human life.'
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reports that the decision identifies all trees mentioned in the military order as a security threat to the colonial Alon road, which traverses the lands of Al-Mughayyir. Amir Daoud, who serves as the Director of Documentation and Publication at the Commission, elaborated that most of the targeted lands are situated to the west of the road, with some lying to the east.
Daoud emphasized that the military order is part of a broader strategy by Israel to clear all lands and areas east of the settlement road. Importantly, he noted that the order does not include any provisions for the confiscation of land from the village, which indicates that the focus is solely on the removal of trees.
Since Thursday, Israeli forces have been actively conducting a large-scale operation in Al-Mughayyir, which involves uprooting hundreds of trees and bulldozing extensive agricultural areas surrounding the colonial Alon road.
