HEBRON: This evening, Israeli occupation forces carried a large-scale raid on homes in several neighborhoods of Hebron's Old City. The raid primarily targeted the Wadi al-Hussain, Jaber Quarter, and Wadi al-Nasara areas. Local sources reported that a significant number of Israeli troops stormed these neighborhoods, conducting thorough searches of residential homes and examining surveillance camera footage. During the raids, soldiers briefly detained several families, including women and children, subjecting them to harsh treatment and preventing them from returning to their homes. This escalation follows a recent measure taken by the occupation forces last month, when they isolated the Salaymeh, Jaber, and Wadi al-Hussain neighborhoods from the rest of southern Hebron. The isolation was enforced by closing all access points with barbed wires, effectively cutting off these areas from the rest of the city. Residents are now required to pass through the so-called "Checkpoint 160," located approximately two k ilometers away from the isolated neighborhoods, to enter or exit these areas. The checkpoint imposes a pre-registration requirement for individuals wishing to cross, adding further strain to daily life. Since October 7, 2023, residents of over 11 neighborhoods in Hebron's Old City have been experiencing intensified repressive measures by Israeli forces, including settler violence and continuous violations of residents' rights. These measures have included restrictions on movement, nighttime curfews sometimes extending into daylight hours, as well as frequent home invasions and mistreatment of civilians.
