Bethlehem: Israeli occupation forces have reportedly uprooted around 150 olive trees in the village of Al-Minya, located east of Bethlehem. This incident occurred in the Al-Baqaa area, situated on the western side of the village along the main road connecting Bethlehem to its eastern countryside.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the head of the Al-Minya village council, Zayed Kawazbeh, confirmed the uprooting of these trees by the occupation forces. The local population in Al-Minya has been facing ongoing attacks from the Israeli army and colonists, aiming to displace the residents from their ancestral lands.
The lands of Al-Minya stretch into the Al-Minya desert, with borders reaching the Dead Sea, covering an area estimated at tens of thousands of dunams. This region has recently come under threat as colonists attempt to seize it, planning to construct a colonial road. This proposed road would isolate the village from its surroundings and facilitate connectivity between various c
olonies.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation authorities have closed all entrances to the village. This blockade has resulted in a near-total paralysis of movement for the residents of Al-Minya, severely restricting their access to agricultural lands and grazing areas essential for their livelihood.
