Israeli Forces Uproot 200 Olive Trees Near Salfit

Salfit: Israeli occupation forces on Thursday uprooted approximately 200 age-old olive trees in the area between Haris and Kifl Haris towns, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Salfit. This act of destruction has sparked concerns among local residents and officials who are witnessing ongoing land disputes.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupying forces continued their operations for the second consecutive day, targeting olive orchards and causing significant damage to the trees in the region. The actions have been a source of distress for the local communities who rely heavily on olive farming for their livelihood.

Omar Samara, head of the Haris Village Council, highlighted that on Monday, the occupation forces had issued notices regarding the seizure of a substantial portion of land, estimated at 65 dunams. Residents were given only 24 hours to raise objections against the seizure, leaving them with limited time to respond to the land confiscation. The situation has intensified tensions in the area, as the community grapples with the loss of their agricultural resources.
