Israeli Forces Issue Demolition Notice for Palestinian School Near Hebron

Hebron: Israeli occupation forces (IOF) issued a demolition notice on Thursday against Al-Zweidin Secondary School, situated south of Hebron, east of Yatta town. Head of the village council, Saeed Ta'imat, reported that the notice was posted on the school's doors, emphasizing that the school caters to a significant number of Bedouin communities with over 120 students enrolled.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Ta'imat stated that the demolition notice was influenced by the demands of the extremist colonialist organization Regavim. About a month ago, Regavim urged the occupation authorities to demolish the school to fulfill colonial objectives. The organization, known for its far-right stance, had previously distributed provocative leaflets on the school's walls, calling for its cessation and demolition.

The IOF justified the demolition notice by claiming that maintaining the school would encourage Palestinians to build and stay in the region. Regavim, established in 2006 and led by Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich, actively seeks to create legal avenues for executing demolition orders against Palestinian properties. Its operations are primarily focused on the occupied Negev and extend throughout Palestinian territories, especially Area C, which comprises 60% of the occupied West Bank.

Regavim benefits from unrestricted access to geographic and demographic data about the area, authorized by the Civil Administration. The organization employs geographic information systems and detailed aerial photography to document and further Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands.
