JERUSALEM: Israeli occupation forces have issued a demolition notice for a mosque in Jabal al-Mukaber, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, and have obstructed olive pickers from accessing their lands. The notice was discovered on Monday, attached to the gate of the al-Shiyah Mosque, which has stood for 20 years. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local residents reported the presence of the demolition notice, which gives a five-day period for compliance. This development has caused considerable concern among the local community, who view the mosque as integral to their cultural and religious identity. In addition to the demolition notice, large contingents of Israeli forces have reportedly stormed several neighborhoods within the town of Silwan. The forces are said to have entered numerous homes, escalating tensions in the already strained area. Furthermore, the Israeli occupation forces have restricted the residents of the village of Qalandia from harvesting olives. An iron gate in th e separation and expansion wall was closed, effectively preventing villagers from reaching their agricultural lands. This action is particularly impactful as olive picking is a crucial economic activity for these residents.
