Israeli Forces Intensify Restrictions in Hebron by Closing Roads

Hebron: Israeli occupation forces closed several roads and blocked entrances to multiple villages and towns in the Hebron governorate on Wednesday afternoon, further tightening punitive measures against Palestinian residents.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, correspondent reported that Israeli forces sealed off the entrances to the town of ad-Dhahiriya and the village of Wadi al Shajni south of Hebron using earth mounds and concrete barriers. These entrances have long been closed with iron gates, exacerbating the restrictions on movement for Palestinian residents.

The occupation forces have escalated their punitive measures, severely restricting the free movement of citizens between villages and towns within the Hebron governorate. These intensified restrictions have considerable impacts on daily life and access to essential services, including healthcare.

The tightened measures led to the tragic death of 45-year-old Iman Eid Jaradat, a resident of Sa’ir northeast of Hebron, on Tuesday. Jaradat, a mother of six, died after being obstructed from reaching a hospital by Israeli occupation forces at the Beit Ainun checkpoint northeast of Hebron. She was suffering from symptoms of a heart attack, highlighting the severe consequences of these road closures and movement restrictions.

According to Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, the number of checkpoints and iron gates established by the Israeli occupation army in the West Bank has reached 898, with 18 iron gates installed since the beginning of 2025. This extensive network of barriers continues to impact the lives of Palestinian residents in the region.
