Jericho: Israeli forces have installed iron gates at the eastern and northern entrances to the Jericho governorate, intensifying movement restrictions for Palestinians in the area. The new installations are part of a broader Israeli policy aimed at regulating movement throughout the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, security sources reported that the gates were set up in both directions alongside pre-existing concrete blocks. One gate was installed at the eastern entrance leading to the Route 90 junction, while the other was positioned at the northern entrance near the Palestinian Military Training Commission, close to the town of Al-Auja.
The installation of these gates comes amidst ongoing tensions in the region, with Israeli measures frequently criticized for impacting the daily lives and freedoms of Palestinians. The move is seen as part of an overarching strategy to control access and movement within the West Bank, further complicating travel for residents of Jericho and surrounding areas.
