Qalqilya: Israeli occupation forces Thursday evening erected two checkpoints to the east of the occupied West Bank city of Qalqilya, according to local sources. They reported that the occupation soldiers set up two checkpoints, one at the entrance of the Kafr Laqif village and the other at the entrance of the An-Nabi Ilyas village. The soldiers stopped Palestinian-registered vehicles, inspected passengers' identity cards, and forced them to endure lengthy delays. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israel severely restricts Palestinians' freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads, and various other physical obstructions. These closures and other measures, which are taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel's 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank. The military occupation and its settler colonial project are enforced with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestin ians.
