Salfit: Israeli occupation forces detained a herder and held others following an attack by colonists on Palestinian livestock herders north of the town of Deir Istiya, in the West Bank province of Salfit, according to local sources.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, a group of colonists attacked livestock herders in the morning in the area of Izbat Maghar al-Asmar, north of the town. The colonists assaulted the herders and unleashed dogs toward the sheep, creating chaos and fear among the herders.
The occupation forces subsequently stormed the area, holding several herders for hours before detaining one of them. The incident escalated when the occupation soldiers conducted searches, vandalized property, broke doors, and damaged water tanks and livestock feed tables.
Sources highlighted that livestock herders in the area of Izbat Maghar al-Asmar have faced repeated attacks since the establishment of a colonial outpost in the area in June 2023. The situation has been a point of tension and conflict, affecting the daily lives and safety of the local Palestinian herders.
