Ramallah: The Israeli occupation forces have detained at least 35 Palestinians, including former detainees, in the occupied West Bank over the past 24 hours. The arrests mark a continuation of the ongoing detention campaigns in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission and the Palestine Prisoners Society (PPS) reported that the Israeli forces are intensifying their detention and field investigation activities across the West Bank. Among those detained are individuals held as hostages to pressure their family members to surrender, as well as former prisoners.
The majority of the arrests occurred in the Tubas Governorate, with additional detentions reported in the Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah, and Nablus governorates. In recent weeks, there has been an increase in the number of Palestinian workers detained and harassed by Israeli police, often under the pretext of lacking proper permits.
The escalation in field investigation operations has been marked by widespread abuse, attacks, threats, and acts of vandalism and destruction in citizens' homes. These detention campaigns and investigations are seen as part of a broader systematic policy of collective punishment employed by the occupation forces, targeting Palestinian citizens.
