Hebron: Israeli occupation forces demolished a Palestinian-owned house on Wednesday in the town of Deir Samet, west of Hebron city. The house belonged to local resident Mohammad Aqtil and was located in Khalat Taha. It measured 100 square meters and was demolished under the pretext of unauthorized construction within areas classified as C.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the father of the house owner, Mahmoud Aqtil, stated that the house was demolished along with all its furniture and contents. This occurred after the family, consisting of nine members, was forced to evacuate due to the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. The family has since been residing in a family home in the village of Kharsa.
Mahmoud Aqtil emphasized that the demolition happened without prior warning, and the family was prevented from accessing the property. The family learned about the demolition through other citizens in the area.
The region, including Khallet Taha, is frequently subjected to attacks by colonists and the occupation army, which include demolishing homes and preventing shepherds from accessing their agricultural lands. Khallet Taha is among the areas threatened with seizure and colonization, with Israeli occupation forces aiming to control 3,000 dunams of land for colonization purposes, particularly for the benefit of the nearby Nijahot colony.
