Israeli Forces Demolish Building Foundations Near Jericho

Jericho: The Israeli occupation authorities demolished the foundations of a building in the town of Al-Auja, north of Jericho, on Monday. Thaer Nojoum, a human rights activist in Al-Auja and the Jordan Valley, reported that the occupation forces, accompanied by bulldozers, dismantled the foundations of a building under construction on Al-Auja Street. The property is owned by siblings Faisal and Ayman Abu Jarhoud, who reside in the town.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the home demolitions are part of a systematic policy aimed at displacing Palestinians from their lands and depriving them of their rights to live in dignity. In February alone, the occupation authorities executed 79 demolition operations affecting 156 facilities, including 109 inhabited homes, 5 uninhabited ones, and 34 agricultural facilities. The demolitions were concentrated in various governorates, with Hebron witnessing 55 demolitions, Jenin 26, Jerusalem 19, and Salfit 15.

The ongoing demolitions underscore the tensions and challenges faced by Palestinians in retaining their homes and lands, amidst policies perceived as efforts to alter the demographic landscape of the region.
