Israeli Forces Demand Removal of Olive Trees in Tuqu’ Village

Bethlehem: Israeli occupation forces issued notifications on Friday demanding the removal of hundreds of olive trees in the town of Tuqu', southeast of Bethlehem, according to local sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Taysir Abu Mufarreh, the head of Tuqu' municipality, reported that the Israeli forces had placed orders on the trees and on the facades of homes. The notifications demand the removal of olive trees located along the main road in the village, covering an area of about one kilometer. These trees belong to various families from Tuqu', and the orders have been issued without any valid justification.

Abu Mufarreh highlighted that the olive trees are more than 35 years old. He expressed concerns that this action could potentially affect additional trees, suggesting that the underlying intention could be to seize the land for colonial purposes.
