Jenin: Israeli occupation forces Tuesday evening besieged a house in Arraba town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupying forces barged their way into the town, where heavily armed soldiers surrounded a house, while military drones hovered above.
The correspondent stated that the soldiers eventually detained a young man, identified as Mu'ath Hashash. His brothers, Hareth and Hammam, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Jenin on July 5, 2024, and their bodies are still withheld by the occupation authorities.
Israeli occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses across the West Bank under the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, often leading to clashes with residents. These raids occur in areas under Palestinian Authority control and are conducted without search warrants, highlighting the military's broad arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full authority over 3 million Palestinians in the West Bank, leaving Palestinians without a say in its exercise. This latest siege is part of a broader Israeli onslaught in Jenin and the West Bank, which intensified after the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of a Gaza ceasefire. The occupation forces have since tightened military measures, isolating cities and governorates using gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.
These measures coincide with ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists across the West Bank, aimed at terrorizing Palestinians and displacing them from their land to build illegal Jewish colonies, further fragmenting Palestinian communities.
