Jerusalem: Israeli forces executed Palestinian youth while detaining him, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees' and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS). The organizations reported that Qassem Amjad Shuqairat, 21, from the Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood of Jerusalem, was killed by Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Commission and the Society issued a joint statement detailing that the forces shot Shuqairat after storming his home. He was subsequently detained without any information on his whereabouts, prior to an announcement confirming his death.
The organizations condemned the act, highlighting what they describe as the ongoing brutality of the occupation regime against Palestinians. They accuse the regime of systematically targeting and taking Palestinian lives, as demonstrated by multiple extrajudicial killings.
The Commission and PPS emphasized that such killings have been a longstanding policy of the occupation and have intensified recently. They noted that this policy involves executing citizens during detention operations in the West Bank, where live ammunition is reportedly used with lethal intent.
The statement from the organizations also noted that this incident followed closely after the National Security Committee's approval of a draft law to execute prisoners. They argue that this law is part of a broader strategy to support the genocide of prisoners under a legal framework. The groups also criticized the international community for its perceived complicity in supporting the occupation's actions.
