GAZA CITY: An Israeli military drone strike in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood of Gaza City resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians and injuries to several others, local sources reported. The airstrike targeted an apartment on Mushtaha Street, further escalating tensions in the already volatile region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the strike was part of a series of aggressive military actions by Israeli forces in Gaza. The drone attack on Shuja'iyya came alongside reports of Israeli drones opening fire on civilians in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, causing additional casualties. Earlier, an Israeli drone also targeted a group of people in the al-Manara neighborhood of Khan Younes, killing three civilians and injuring several more.
Israeli forces have been conducting airstrikes and drone attacks across Gaza, including targeting land in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood. The ongoing military operations are occurring despite a legally binding decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that ordered Israel to cease its offensive in Rafah, citing potential violations of the Genocide Convention.
Since the conflict intensified on October 7, over 45,541 Palestinians have been reported killed, with more than 108,338 others injured. Furthermore, approximately 10,000 individuals remain missing, believed to be trapped under debris. Palestinian and international organizations indicate that women and children constitute the majority of the casualties.
The Israeli military actions have also prompted the displacement of nearly two million residents from across the Gaza Strip. Most of the displaced population has been forced into Rafah, near the Egyptian border, marking the largest mass displacement of Palestinians since the Nakba in 1948.
