Post: Israeli Colonists Storm Sebastia Archaeological Site Under Military Protection

Ramallah: Dozens of colonists stormed the archaeological site in the town of Sebastia, northwest of Nablus, on Tuesday, under heavy protection from Israeli forces. Sebastia Mayor Muhammad Azem confirmed the incursion, highlighting the presence of a significant number of colonists and the heavy deployment of the occupation army to secure their entry into the site.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the situation in Sebastia is part of a broader pattern of incursions by colonists and occupation forces, particularly targeting the archaeological area. These actions are seen as attempts to seize control of the historical site and erase its Palestinian identity, a recurring issue that has raised concerns among local residents and authorities.

In a related development, Israeli forces also stormed the city of Nablus, deploying around the Old City and the commercial market. Several Israeli military patrols, accompanied by infantry units, extensively deployed around these areas. However, no arrests were reported during these operations.

The town of Sebastia and the city of Nablus have been frequent targets of such incursions, with almost daily raids and military deployments in Nablus neighborhoods and its Old City. These actions contribute to the ongoing tension in the region as the Palestinian identity of these historical sites faces challenges from frequent incursions.
