Ramallah: Israeli colonists on Friday evening opened live fire on Palestinian civilians in the Sinjil town, north of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to local sources. They reported that colonists, driving a vehicle, stormed the western part of the town and opened fire at defenseless villagers, though no casualties were reported.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the colonists also forced their way into the Tell and al-Baten localities within the town. Sinjil has been subjected to repeated colonist attacks in recent months, with accusations from Palestinians that Israeli forces are colluding with colonists by blocking ambulances from reaching the wounded and directly attacking Palestinians.
Colonists' violence against Palestinians and their property has become routine in the West Bank, with such incidents rarely being prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, an act considered a violation of international law.
