Post: Israeli Colonists Forcefully Displace Two Families Near Jericho

Jericho: Israeli colonists on Friday forcefully displaced two families from Al-Auja Bedouin community, north of the occupied West Bank city of Jericho, according to an activist. Hassan Mlaihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, reported that colonist militias encircled the homes of the families of Ayed Musa Kaabneh and Ibrahim Ayed Kaabneh. They were subjected to brutal beatings and threats of death before being compelled to vacate the community.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israeli colonists have recently established an outpost merely 300 meters away from the community. The colonists have been invading the community regularly, causing damage to property and intimidating Palestinians daily, leading to an intolerable living situation for the residents.

The occurrence of violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a common issue in the West Bank, with such incidents being infrequently prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The acts of violence by colonists include arson of property and mosques, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and assaults on vulnerable homes.

Currently, approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies located in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, a presence considered by many to be in violation of international law.
