Israeli Colonists Continue Cutting Olive Trees in Bethlehem for Second Day

Bethlehem: Israeli colonists continued their attacks on olive trees in the town of Battir, west of Bethlehem, for the second consecutive day, according to local sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Omar Al-Qaisi, a local anti-colonization activist, reported that colonists cut down 12 olive trees on Sunday in an area known as Taff Abdullah on the outskirts of the village. The land belongs to his brother, Ibrahim. In addition to cutting the trees, the colonists also destroyed the barbed wire fencing surrounding the property.

Al-Qaisi further added that on Saturday, colonists cut down six olive trees and an apple tree in the same location. This marks the fourth time that colonists have attacked the lands owned by him and his brother, specifically targeting their trees.

The repeated incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinian landowners in areas affected by colonial Israeli settlement activities. These attacks have heightened tensions and pose significant threats to the livelihoods of local Palestinian farmers who rely on these trees for their sustenance and income.
