Nablus: Israeli colonists on Friday attacked Palestinian farmers in the al-Masoudieh area of Burqa village, northwest of Nablus, according to a local activist. Dhiyab Hajji reported that armed colonists assaulted the farmers while attempting to forcibly expel them from the area.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, such acts of violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property are a common occurrence in the West Bank. These incidents are rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities, creating a climate of impunity. The violence perpetrated by colonists often includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
There are approximately 1 million Israeli colonists living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are considered illegal under international law. This population expansion continues to exacerbate tensions and conflict in the region.
