Israeli Colonists Accused of Stealing Olive Harvest in Yasuf.

Salfit: Israeli colonists Tuesday evening stole the olive harvest from lands in the village of Yasuf, east of Salfit, according to a local official. Head of Yasuf village council, Wael Abu Madi, reported that colonists took four sacks of olives and picking tools from a local resident. During the incident, the colonists also allegedly assaulted the resident and his family.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the annual olive harvest in the West Bank is vital to the Palestinian economy, serving as a significant source of income for numerous families. Despite the economic importance, the olive harvest season often witnesses increased violence from settlers against Palestinians. This year, the situation is particularly tense due to the ongoing war in Gaza. Many settlers have been enlisted for regional operations in the West Bank, reportedly using their influence to block access to Palestinian lands and set up roadblocks on agricultural routes.

The Israeli Information Center for Human Righ
ts in Occupied Territories, B’Tselem, highlighted that settler attacks on Palestinian harvesters have surged in both intensity and frequency since the conflict began. Despite these challenges, Israeli authorities have reportedly refrained from taking preventive measures against such activities, as has been their policy in previous years.
