Israeli Bombardment in Gaza City Results in 15 Palestinian Deaths and Multiple Injuries.
Gaza city: Israeli bombardment on Gaza City in the central Gaza Strip Thursday evening resulted in the deaths of 15 Palestinians and left several others injured. The assault targeted two houses belonging to the Abu Ammuna and Saidam families in the al-Mukhayyam al-Jadid area, an extension of the Nuseirat refugee camp located to its north. In this attack, nine civilians were killed, and dozens more were injured.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Israeli forces also targeted a motorcycle in Az-Zawayda village in the central Strip, killing two civilians. Another attack in the vicinity of the ash-Shanti locality, northwest of Gaza City, resulted in four additional fatalities and numerous casualties. This offensive is part of Israel’s ongoing military actions in the region, which have continued despite a legally binding decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering a halt to the military offensive in Rafah due to potential violations of the Genocide Convention.
Since
the onset of hostilities on October 7, the conflict has claimed the lives of at least 43,204 Palestinians and injured over 101,640 others. Additionally, more than 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, believed to be buried under the ruins of their homes. Palestinian and international organizations report that women and children constitute the majority of the casualties.
The Israeli aggression has also caused the displacement of nearly two million people across the Gaza Strip, with most seeking refuge in the densely populated southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border. This displacement marks the largest mass exodus in Palestine since the 1948 Nakba.
