Israeli Author David Grossman Describes War on Gaza as “Genocide”

Tel aviv: Prominent Israeli author David Grossman has described the current situation in the Gaza Strip as 'genocide.' Grossman, who has long been a significant voice in Israeli literature, expressed his change of heart regarding the term in an interview with the Italian daily La Repubblica. He stated, "For many years, I refused to use that term, 'genocide,' but now, after the images I have seen and after talking to people who were there, I can't help but use it."

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Grossman remains committed to the idea of a two-state solution, emphasizing that he sees no viable alternative to this approach. Despite the ongoing conflict, he firmly believes in the necessity of establishing two separate states to achieve lasting peace in the region.

When questioned about the recent developments involving France and the UK potentially recognizing a Palestinian state, Grossman remarked, "I actually believe it's a good move, and I don't understand the hysteria surrounding it here in Israel." He underscored that any recognition should come with stringent conditions, including the absence of weapons and a guarantee of transparent elections that exclude individuals who advocate violence against Israel.

David Grossman's literary contributions, which have been translated into multiple languages, have earned him numerous international accolades. His outspoken views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continue to generate significant discussion and debate both within Israel and globally.
