Israeli Airstrike on Civilians’ Shelter in Jabalia Results in 18 Deaths and Multiple Injuries

Jabalia: An Israeli airstrike targeted a civilians' shelter in Jabalia, north of Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of 18 civilians and injuring others.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israeli fighter jets focused the attack on a house near the Halawa junction in Jabalia, which was sheltering displaced individuals. The assault claimed 15 lives and left others injured, with many reported to be in serious condition.

Israel has ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement unilaterally and resumed its offensive actions on the Strip as of Tuesday, March 18. This has led to a series of airstrikes across the region, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians, including over 100 children. The current death toll has reached at least 1,928, with over 5,055 individuals wounded, according to medical sources. Emergency teams continue their efforts to rescue victims trapped beneath the rubble.

Since early Thursday, Israeli airstrikes have killed 52 civilians, including 39 in Gaza City and the northern Strip. The resumed aggression occurs amidst growing concerns about the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Strip, exacerbated by the ongoing siege and restrictions on the entry of medical and humanitarian aid.

The Israeli military campaign, ongoing since October 2023, has resulted in the deaths of 51,355 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuries to 117,248 others. In addition, at least 10,000 people remain unaccounted for, presumed dead under the debris of their homes throughout the Strip.

The conflict has also led to the displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip, with the majority having been forced into the densely populated southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border. This has been described as Palestine's largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
