JENIN: The Israeli occupation authorities notified tonight of its intentions to demolish the house of slain Palestinian Nidal Zeyad al-Amer, who was shot and killed by Israeli forces in Jenin, according to a family member. The uncle said the Israeli occupation informed him of their decision to demolish the house of his nephew, Nidal, without setting a specific date. Nidal was killed after being shot at point-blank range by an Israeli special unit in the industrial area of Jenin on July 3. The city of Jenin and its camp have been subjected to a military onslaught for the past five days, which has so far resulted in the killing of 16 citizens and the injury and detention of dozens of others, in addition to the widespread destruction of citizens' properties, public and private facilities and infrastructure. Israel resorts to punitively demolish the family homes of any Palestinians - as a means of deterrence - accused of being involved in attacks against Israelis, a policy that Israel does not use against Isr aeli colonists who were involved in fatal attacks against Palestinians. Al-Haq human rights group slammed the punitive home demolition of Palestinians suspected of being involved in attacks against Israelis, as a collective punishment and that in accordance with humanitarian law and human rights law, it is assessed as a war crime and a crime against humanity.
