Israel Demolishes House in Northern Triangle Region Under Permit Pretext

Ar'ara: Israeli authorities demolished a house in the town of Ar'ara in the northern Triangle region of the 1948 territories this morning, Thursday, under the pretext of building without a permit. This action is part of a broader trend of increasing demolition orders and fines in the area.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the demolished house belonged to the family of Muhammad Shadafneh, originally from the town of Iksal but residing in Ar'ara. The two-story house served as a home for Shadafneh's entire family. In addition to this incident, Israeli authorities compelled another resident of Ar'ara to self-demolish two houses for the second time, citing that the initial self-demolition was inadequate.

Since the beginning of this year, approximately eight residents of Ar'ara have demolished their homes under the pretext of unlicensed construction. These actions occur amidst repeated demolition orders, contributing to a severe housing crisis. The crisis is exacerbated by delays in approving detailed and structural maps and a refusal to expand planning, leading residents to demolish their homes to avoid substantial fines and demolition costs that can reach hundreds of thousands of shekels.
