Khan younis: A one-month-old infant tragically passed away on Thursday in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza due to extreme cold conditions.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, medical sources have confirmed that the infant, Saeed Abdeen, succumbed to the severe cold. This unfortunate incident highlights the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where the number of deaths attributed to the storm and freezing temperatures has now reached 13.
These alarming figures underscore the dire situation facing residents, especially children and displaced individuals residing in inadequate shelters such as flimsy tents. The harsh weather has exacerbated the already critical lack of shelter and medical care. Additionally, the scarcity of fuel has further diminished the availability of heating, leaving many vulnerable to the harsh cold. The stormy, cold, and rainy conditions continue to pose significant challenges for the population in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian assistance.
