Baghdad, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid today renewed his country's firm stance regarding the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, stressing the need to put an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and to permit the entry of medical and food aid. This came during the President's meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Iraq Thomas Seiler, during which Rashid emphasized Iraq's eagerness to continue on the path of reform, combating corruption, consolidating the rule of law and justice, and respect for human rights, adding that his government has set a program to combat corruption, vitalize the economy, and encourage investments. In turn, Seiler underscored the importance of the EU's role in widening cooperation with Iraq in all fields, be it political, economic, or security, stressing that Iraq is a strategic partner to the EU.
