Tehran, Iran's Assembly of Experts elected Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani as its new chairman on Tuesday. Elected by 55 votes, Kermani will preside over the legislative body for a period of two years. The Assembly is responsible for appointing Iran's Supreme Leader and supervising his activities. The Assembly of Experts comprises of 88 members, voted in by the Iranian people for a mandate of eight years, and is one of the ruling bodies of the Islamic Republic. Source: Qatar News Agency
