Gaza City: Internet services have once again been cut off in the Gaza Strip, as confirmed by the Palestine Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). The disruption affects fixed-line and internet services in the southern and central regions of the territory, attributed to ongoing damage to the telecommunications infrastructure amid continued conflict.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the TRA issued a press release on Monday stating that it is actively monitoring the situation. The authority is working closely with telecommunications companies to assess the technical challenges and aims to restore services as swiftly as possible. This effort underscores the importance of maintaining essential communication services, particularly given the severe humanitarian conditions currently prevailing in the region.
The TRA has repeated its call for the protection of technical staff and the provision of safe access to repair sites. This measure is deemed critical to ensure the continuity of vital services. Since the escalation of hostilities on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has experienced several interruptions to telecommunications and internet services. These disruptions have been caused by factors including Israeli military actions and fuel shortages impacting the operation of electric generators.
