Gaza City: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has confirmed that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has escalated to "catastrophic levels," calling for an immediate resumption of the ceasefire, protection for civilians, and the guaranteed delivery of humanitarian aid.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric issued a statement emphasizing the urgent need for political action to save lives and reinstate the ceasefire in the region. Spoljaric highlighted the critical importance of sparing civilians from the ongoing hostilities and ensuring the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
Spoljaric reiterated that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated significantly, making the resumption of the ceasefire an urgent necessity. The ICRC remains fully committed to its humanitarian mandate in the Gaza Strip, which includes facilitating the release of detainees, providing medical assistance, and delivering other essential humanitarian support.
